THE REVIEW:
I went into this movie; thinking that it would Remember the Titans meets I Am Sam, both of which I enjoyed. But that wasn’t the case. The football season was done within the first half an hour. But they had some decent scenes. I didn’t mind this movie, but probably won’t watch it again. The directing and writing were decent and acting was good: Cuba Gooding Jr. is a pretty good actor in my opinion and Ed Harris has gotta be one of the better actors out there nowadays. The rest of the cast played their roles/characters great to give Gooding and Harris some good support. I will admit that I loved the character; Radio and that helped me enjoy the movie. If you don’t like the character, then you’re probably not going to enjoy the movie. Also, I loved the ending and how it linked the movie to real life Radio.

The problems that I had with the movie was that it was pretty slow. It seemed to crawl along. Only the football scenes went by fast and also the basketball scenes. Which took me by surprise: the trailers built this movie up to be all about the football team. They always talk about the football team throughout the movie, but as I already mentioned there are only a couple game scenes. Another weakness was the predictability of it. It has all been done before: it’s another family drama. So, you know that there’s going to be a happy ending and some people are going to change by the end of the movie. Also, you know who’s going to be the guy who doesn’t like Radio and tries to get rid of him.

But besides that, it’s a decent family drama. However, you might want to wait for video before seeing this.
